Pink Saturday: Ever Further

It feels like each day she grows taller, grows smarter, grows stronger, grows prettier, grows more clever, grows further away.

Like I'm looking at her through a telescope. I close my eyes and all the sudden what seemed like only inches is best measured in tens of yards. Our yard, their yard, or further.

Time stopped for me when I was 23, or in my mind it did. Yet for her, it keeps flowing through her at a rate nearly incomprehensible. This last year passed like the drowsy moments forgotten between dreams, and there is no getting it back.

Such strange alchemy that turns "in a minute" to "where did the time go?"

But that was, at one time, my sweater, and already I wonder if it's too small.

Sometimes I'm tempted to sneak in and snuggle her like when she was little, but she's much much much too independent and grown for that. So instead I'll snuggle her brother, because too soon that will be him, minus the pink sweater.

Yup, it goes by way too fast. I've got to be as present as possible to enjoy each moment because I know that it'll all go by so quickly.

Lovely post for Pink Saturday.
They grow way too fast.
Breathe in each moment, each step.
Have a beautiful day,

P.S. So glad your son won't get the pink sweater!

Your post touched my heart in a very real way, as my son will reach his eighteenth birthday this Christmas. Sometimes I really miss that adorable little boy who would sit in my lap and let me kiss his sweet head. "Can I go play with so-and-so has been replaced with "Can I drive the car?" I'm amazed at how quickly the little baby's eyes that I gazed into eighteen years ago have become the eyes of a handsome young man looking back at me. I guess it's a story as old as time. Thanks for sharing with us.

They grow and leave very quickly, but you've learned the secret - enjoy every moment until that comes to pass. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
